The "Meaning" of Snow

Alright, so, let’s discuss something we’ve seen a lot of lately…., Snow. I was thinking this week as I looked outside about Snow and the different meanings it has for different people. Some people hate snow. It limits their ability to go places, it get all mucky and icky. So for them, the meaning of snow is Nuisance. Some people love Snow and think it is beautiful when it first fall and coats the ground and houses, like a winter wonderland. For them, the meaning of snow might be Beauty or Wonder. And for some people, Snow can also represent a new beginning or hope. Let me explain that one. Some people have never seen snow in their life and the idea of seeing snow for the first time, it gives them hope. For them, the meaning of snow is clearly Hope. My point in saying all this is this. Just think about, something as simple as Snow, the many different meanings it can have for people. That’s not exclusive to snow, many different things can have different meanings for different people.  A movie for example, might entertain some people and bore other. Or a book might inspire someone and make someone else just laugh. Or a song might be great for someone and inspire them or touch them, and for someone else, it might have a different meaning. Meanings attached to various different things, weather, movies, tv shows, books, songs, they are all different in some way from each other because we all different and unique individuals. The meanings we attach to different things in life are very personal to each and everyone of us and they may change as we get older, but, they make us unique and special! Just think, the next time it snows and your stuck inside or you’re outside playing in the snow, how many different meanings snow has people and perhaps what it means to you.

Alright, well, that’s all the time I have for today, so, until next week, take care, be safe, and goodbye everyone, have a great weekend, I’ll see you right back here next week!

Why Art Motivates Me

Welcome back to Meah’s Motivations. I'll be posting here each Monday to discuss things that motivate me and talk about how the arts can motivate and inspire others.

This week, I want to talk about how Gabi has motivated me and why I am motivated to help Gabi on this new journey.

Gabi began helping me in September of 2017. At this time, I was 5 months into recovering from 3 brain surgeries and an eye surgery due to a Meningioma brain tumor that was found and partially removed in March 2017. After hearing my story, Gabi offered to give me private art lessons and later to allow me to help with some other art classes. This opportunity gave me hope and I finally felt as though I fit in! Art lifted my spirits when they were low and helping others gave me a sense of accomplishment.

Considering how much Gabi helped me in such a short amount of time, I knew that wherever her journey led her, I would follow. Not only do I want to continue taking lessons and using art to heal myself, but I want to use art to heal others. I want to give others the same feeling of acceptance and pride that I have when working on a project. I want people to know that despite any differences they have, they are amazing people and amazing artists! Most of all, I want to be sure that all people are taught that different is a good thing!
