Let me ask you all a question this week. In grade school, high school, college, your job, and life in general, what do we all want? There’s one thing that everybody wants at some point in there life or maybe their whole life….Acceptance. We all want to be accepted, however, what kind of acceptance we want, that’s different between all of us I think. Some people want to be accepted and that to them means they need to change, conform and try to fit in and be like everyone else. Then there are those who want to be accepted for who they are and won’t change for anyone. So, let me ask you now…, which group do you fit into? Take a minute, think about it and then continue reading.

Personally, I believe I fit into the second group. I have Asperger’s syndrome. I am shy. I am unique, I have unique perspectives and unique gifts. I want to be Accepted for who I am. And I most certainly won’t change or try to fit in, but, why? Isn’t that a way to gain others Acceptance? I won’t change or try to fit in to gain acceptance because I have Acceptance from the most important person in the world to have acceptance from…myself. When talking about Acceptance, I think there are a few important points. First and foremost, you do not need to conform or change for anyone or to get anyone’s acceptance. And if you do need to, then that person’s acceptance simply isn’t worth it all. Secondly, if you want others Acceptance, you must first Accept yourself the way you are and have confidence in who you are! Final and probably the most important point, Mister Fred Rogers said it all the time. Each of us is special, each of us is unique. “I like you just the way you are” is what Fred Rogers used to say. Each of us are unique and special, we have special talents and special gifts and we should be all be Accepted as we are and not change or anything for anyone!

Alright, well, that’s about all the time I have for this week, so, until next week, take care, be safe, and goodbye everyone, have a great weekend, I’ll see you right back here next week!
